Ab und zu ist es schon interessant wie die Dinge laufen! Kaum hatte ich mit HJC Deutschland den Test für den RPHA 90 vereinbart teilte mir Marcus mit, dass er den gleichen Helm auch geordert hatte, um ihn zu testen. Doppelt gemoppelt hält besser….. nein in diesem Fall dachte ich das wirklich nicht, da mir der Klapper auf Anhieb nicht so passen wollte. Also hatte ich ihn wieder eingepackt und zurück geschickt, womit die Sache für mich erledigt schien.
Intro
Every now and then it is interesting to see how things work out! As soon as I had arranged the test for the RPHA 90 with HJC Germany, Marcus from Kradblatt told me that he had ordered the same helmet to test it. Doubled up holds better …. no in this case I really didn’t think so, because the rattle didn’t fit me right away. So I had packed it up again and sent it back, which seemed to finish the job for me at that moment.
Zweiter Anlauf
Um so verwunderter war ich als gut drei Wochen später erneut der Postbote zwei Mal klingelte und mich mit einem Päckchen überraschte. Ja der RPHA war wieder da, denn Anscheins wusste bei HJC keiner etwas mit meiner Retoure anzufangen. Und so kam was kommen musste, denn was zweimal kommt hat eine höhere Bestimmung zu erfüllen und geht nicht mehr zurück.
Second attempt
So after that I was much more astonished when a good three weeks later the postman rang twice again and surprised me with a parcel. Yes, the RPHA was back, because apparently nobody at HJC knew what to do with my return. And so something had to come, because what comes twice has a higher purpose to fulfill and never goes back again.
Unschuldig weiß
Da stand er nun also vor mir auf dem Tisch in seiner unschuldig weißen Farbe. Doch alles nur Tarnung, denn von der Form her ist er gar nicht mal soooo brav, viel eher aggressiv dreinschauend und mit einer wirklich guten Ausstattung versehen. Das Sonnenvisier, der Verschluss am Kinnriemen, die Visiermechanik und auch das Innenleben sind sehr wertig gefertigt ohne knarzen und klappern. Mit rund 1600 Gramm sticht er allerdings in der Disziplin Gewicht nicht besonders aus der Masse der Konkurrenz von z.B. Shoei und Schuberth heraus, vielmehr herrschte einhelliger Gleichstand. Macht aber nichts, denn bei einem gut austarierten Helm ist für mich das Gewicht erst mal zweitrangig.
Innocent white oh yes 🙂
So there he stood again right before me on the table in his innocent white colour. But it’s all just more camouflage, because if you see and feel his form he is not soooooo well-behaved. Indeed he looks rather aggressive and has a really good equipment. The sun visor, the lock on the chinstrap, the visor mechanism and also the inner workings are very well made without creaking and rattling. However, with about 1600 grams it does not stand out in the discipline weight from the mass of the competition of e.g. Shoei and Schuberth, rather there was unanimous equality. But that doesn’t matter, because with a well-balanced helmet the weight is secondary point for me.
Ein Jahr und plus Monate später?
Ich habe den HJC wirklich mögen gelernt. Nach unserer ersten großen Tour im Juni 2018 durch die Provence verschärfte sich der Eindruck schnell, die Liebe auf den zweiten Blick gefunden zu haben. Weitere Touren zum Club of Newchurch und zum Monte Grappa folgten und er rückte immer mehr in den Vordergrund, da er gerade auch auf meinen eigenen Mopeds ( W650 und R1200R ) lautstärkenmässig eine top Figur machte. Ergänzt mit dem Cardo Packtalk Bold vereint der RPHA90 tatsächlich alles was man sich von einem guten Helm wünscht und zudem noch zu einem top Preisleistungsverhältnis.
Fazit
Wer also einen klasse Klapphelm sucht, der zudem top ausgestattet ist und frech designed, findet ihn bei HJC mit dem RPHA 90 mit Sicherheit.
Was noch auffiel:
Wirkliche Ausfälle gab es im täglichen Gebrauch so gut wie keine, einzig das Pinlock sollte man hin und wieder auf Festigkeit beim Sitz kontrollieren, und die Verschlußpins des Klappmechanismuses im Auge behalten. Der rechte hatte sich bei mir einmal gelöst. Mit nem kleinen Torxschlüssel war dieses Problem aber schnell wieder behoben.
In diesem Sinne viel Spaß in der Spätsaison 2019
And now a year and some plus months later?
I’ve really come to like the H.J.C. After our first big tour in June 2018 through the Provence, the impression of having found love at second sight quickly intensified. Further tours to the Club of Newchurch and to Monte Grappa followed and it came more and more to the fore as it cut a top figure in terms of volume, especially on my own Bikes the ( W650 and R1200R ). Complemented with the Cardo Packtalk Bold, the RPHA90 really does combine everything you would expect from a good helmet with a great value for money.
So the Conclusion is
If you are looking for a great flip-up helmet, which is also top equipped and cheekily designed, you will certainly find it at HJC with the RPHA 90.
What was still noticeable:
There were almost no real failures in daily use, only the pinlock should be checked for tightness from time to time, and keep an eye on the locking pins of the flip-up mechanism. The one on the right side had come loose on me once. But with a small Torx key this problem was quickly solved.
In this sense, have fun in the Season and stay healthy.
